Elsie Ngidi Primary is probably the first – and likely the last – school where the decision to partner with it, was made the moment the evaluation team walked through the front gate. A beautifully manicured garden welcomes guests with clean and winding pathways. This school was our second venture in Soweto and if we had to judge it by the first, namely Ebuhleni Primary, we knew that we were not making a mistake.
The area allocated to be used as a library was also in better condition than any other that we had worked with.
The renovations process was hastened, so that we could hand over as the country celebrated Mandela Day 2019.
With all the good practice we observed at Elsie Ngidi, their reading scores in the preliminary tests revealed that teaching and learning of a very reliable standard was being rolled out in the school.
