Heerengracht Primary School which was recommended by District D14 (Johannesburg Central), became the 6th Hyundai sponsored library in the portfolio of Imperial and Motus schools. Two classrooms and two storerooms were emptied to create a large resource center, allowing us to create two very big separate and private reading spaces and a resource center with 9000 books and other teaching aids.
The resources have undoubtedly made a huge difference to the lives of the 1000 learners at Heerengracht.
The school’s motto – ’Some inspire to win: we inspire each other and that’s how we win’ – is a wonderful bit of inspiration for the partnership between school, sponsors and community.
The official opening of the center was fittingly done in Mandela month, 2018.
