School Roll 2019: 1118

Langalibalele Dube Primary School bears the honour of being the ’Most Successful School’ in 2018 - a unique category introduced by the Trust in its catalogue of schools. The criteria encompass the number of learners who qualified for the finals of our annual inter-school competitions, the number of teachers using a library’s resources, and the number of books read by learners and verified in a calendar year.

The school was added to the Trust’s portfolio in 2015. The usual renovation process was completed in scheduled time.

At the time it was regarded as the most attractive of all libraries established, because the room allocated was originally built as a library in the construction of the school. The room was used as a normal classroom and was in very poor condition. It was however big enough to create private reading areas and computer stations.

Due to the excellent management team and good usage of the library, the decision to assist the school further with a donation from 27/4 Investments was a shoe-in.

In 2016, the donation was used to upgrade the grade R area at the school:

  • A classroom separate from the other classrooms was dismantled and moved to the grade R area
  • A new mobile classroom was brought in to reduce the number of learners sharing a classroom
  • All classrooms were painted and floors replaced where necessary
  • Carpets were provided for group work
  • The outside area was paved and turfed
  • New teaching aids were made available for teachers and learners
  • The old play gym was renovated

Presently the school requires assistance to remove chunks of jutting and jagged rocks all over the playground, making it a most unsafe place for learners and educators.
