Hyundai Corporation Korea and Hyundai South Africa were pleased with the results being achieved at schools housing their sponsored libraries, and were eager to continue investing into the advancement of reading and literacy at poorly resourced schools. They were keen to hand over a centre during the 2016 Mandela Month.
Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that this request was fulfilled given the unfriendly time frames of their South African and overseas executives’ diaries.
With a roll of more than1500 learners, Motheo Foundation was the next school on the list of eligible schools for consideration by Hyundai. The key criteria were the disadvantaged conditions of the community of Lawley lived, the commitment of teachers and the quality of the school’s management.
Fortunately, the school had a room big enough to be renovated for an optimum-size library. A complete restoration was effected to bring it up to the specifications of an Imperial library.
The library was opened amidst joyful celebration in July 2016 and continues to be an asset to the school and community.
