The improvement in results year on year at schools in District D8, was the motivation for the Trustees of Imperial and Motus Community Trust, to continue approving financing for projects in this area
Phepane Primary School with a roll of 835 is the 14th library to be established in the far South of Johannesburg.
The two classrooms identified to be converted into a library and resource centre were cleared out by the staff of the school well before the due date to ensure that the upgrade team could complete the work in record time. Teachers and management were all involved in the process because they could not wait to get the books and resources into their hands.
The library was completed in March and plans for handover on 8 April were put into place. Unfortunately, with the impact of coronavirus at the time, the handover was postponed and was finally handed to the school in a low-key event in September 2020.
