Siviwe Primary School situated in the Sebokeng, South of Johannesburg, was the recipient of the Trust’s 50th library. We were all looking forward, to celebrate this milestone, with a big bash, inviting as many possible future sponsors of libraries to the event.

Unfortunately, the master plan was determined by Covid-19. With the third wave spreading exponentially faster, it was decided to do a very low-key handover, with only the group of learners at school on the day and teachers. This was reduced further by working with one class at a time.

Guest were treated to a video of the school and Trust activities on YouTube which they could watch from the comfort of their homes.

While everything was low key, the learner’s excitement on the day, made up for the disappointment of not being able to share the beautiful completed library with others. In her acceptance speech, the principal Ms. Selai commended the Trust, for continuing with their efforts, during the pandemic and promised to ensure the learners gain maximum benefit from the library.

Siviwe library is larger than most as we were given three standard classrooms to work with. We were thus able to establish a play centre for children to test their creativity, using the various resources provided.

The outside reading, chess and checkers boards, sponsored by 27Four Investments is an added bonus for the learners at the school.
