Moyisela Primary School, the 19th school to be established in District D11, Johannesburg South, was selected in 2017 as a school worthy of receiving a library resource centre.

Work commenced in 2017, but due to unforeseen circumstances relating primarily in a change to the school management, the renovation process was paused until the dust settled, and the impending issues dealt with, as a safeguard for our investment and ultimately the reading programme which is set up for the benefit of the greater school community.

Unfortunately, the difficulties were only rectified in 2019. Because some of the renovation work had been done in 2017, it took less than 2 months to complete the required project and the library was ready for handover on 15th October 2019.

At the handover, the new principal, Ms. Abigail Ramotseoa, emphasized the role she would play in ensuring that the learners did not miss out on the benefits of the library and the literacy programme.

With the handover of the library and resource centre to Moyisela Primary School, we bid ’farewell’ to District D11 and a relationship spanning 14 years.

2020 ushers in a fresh phase for the Imperial and Motus Trust; a new District in the east of Johannesburg has been identified for our niche outreach programme: the provision of libraries, resource centres, literacy and reading programmes. May this journey be just as fruitful and inspirational to the communities we will serve.
